Job summary

Quality Assurance Technicians monitor, audit, test and record observations of the company's quality control programs and procedures to ensure that products produced are wholesome and in compliance with Company, USDA and FDA standards.

Summary of essential job functions

  1. Check HACCP forms to make sure they are being filled out correctly.
  2. Perform random checks of quality standards to identify any non-conformance.
  3. Perform microbiological testing of finished product and environmental testing of plant and equipment.
  4. Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory product quality standards, sanitation standards, food safety standards, employee safety and environmental standards.
  5. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  6. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Provide on the-the-job training of new employees.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. .
  2. Knowledge of HACCP and BRC (British Retail Consortium) standards.

 

Working Conditions

Cell phones and jewelry are not permitted on the factory floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Personal Protective Equipment Requirement

Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include: steel-toed work boots, ear plugs, hair net, hard hat, beard net (if applicable), and smock.

Preferred Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
